Non-Profit Helps Give Family Members Education and Hope.
Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) is a new organization in Goodyear that helps parents and family members deal with the issues surrounding a loved one struggling with addiction by providing education, fellowship, and most importantly, hope. PAL’s free weekly meetings offer an evidence-based curriculum to help parents and family members learn healthy ways to deal with addiction challenges and provide support to exchange ideas and suggestions. Meetings feature education and support. TOPICS INCLUDE: The addiction cycle • Enabling behaviors • Delayed emotional growth Role of the family • Setting realistic boundaries • Emotional detachment Financial strings • Steps of recovery • Recognizing relapse The meetings are led by trained volunteer facilitators who have experienced the issues first-hand. This event will support the Teacher Excellence Fund, which provides bonus compensation every December to reward and retain the best Great Hearts teachers across Arizona. The telethon is the primary fundraising vehicle for this year’s annual Teacher Excellence Fund, giving Great Hearts Academies the opportunity to reward the Arizona teachers who worked harder than ever this year.
