Non-Profit Helps Give Family Members Education and Hope.
 
Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) is a new organization in Goodyear that helps parents and family members deal with the issues surrounding a loved one struggling with addiction by providing education, fellowship, and most importantly, hope.
 
PAL’s free weekly meetings offer an evidence-based curriculum to help parents and family members learn healthy ways to deal with addiction challenges and provide support to exchange ideas and suggestions. 

Meetings feature education and support.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

The addiction cycle • Enabling behaviors • Delayed emotional growth Role of the family • Setting realistic boundaries • Emotional detachment Financial strings • Steps of recovery • Recognizing relapse
 
The meetings are led by trained volunteer facilitators who have experienced the issues first-hand. The PAL meetings are open to parents, spouses, grandparents, siblings, and close friends (18 and older).

Great Hearts Academies is proud to announce its second Teacher Excellence Fund Telethon, presented by Casas Bonitas and produced by Broadcast Rentals taking place Saturday, September 25 from noon to 8 p.m. live-streamed across YouTube, Facebook, and academy websites. This event will support the Teacher Excellence Fund, which provides bonus compensation every December to reward and retain the best Great Hearts teachers across Arizona.

The telethon is the primary fundraising vehicle for this year’s annual Teacher Excellence Fund, giving Great Hearts Academies the opportunity to reward the Arizona teachers who worked harder than ever this year.

Community members can donate by calling (480) 685-9940 on September 25 or by visiting www.greatheartstelethon.org.

Great Hearts is a nonprofit network of tuition-free public charter schools dedicated to improving education nationwide through classical preparatory K-12 academies. There are 22 schools and 14,000 students throughout Phoenix. More information can be found at greatheartsamerica.org
